My name is Budi Santoso, a lecturer at University of Indonesia majoring in mass communication. Here, I represent the academics point of view about the subject we discuss this morning. As we know, there are many mystery sinetrons shown on Television stations presently. The sinetrons depict horrible scenes about the spirit world. It is described that spirits often disturb people by frightening them in the darkness, when they walk alone at night or at the cemetery. The spirits are pictured as frightening appearance such as white clothes flying corpse, shattered face copse etc. the show must be abandoned for several reasons. Firstly, it make a wrong perception of people especially children and women to do activity at nights, for example going to the wells, even cooking at kitchen alone. How do you fell if you always live in anxiety. Thirdly, such kind of sinetrons waste out time to think unreal phenomena while we are facing many kinds of living problems. In brief, for the reason, I think television station must stop showing mystery sinetrons. They are bad influences for people, frightening our children and destroying their belief to god. 7.	Analytical Exposition	SHOULD CHILDREN WEAR HATS AT SCHOOL? (Statement of position):  I believe that you should always wear a hat at school when you are playing outside , to stop you from getting sunburn. (Argument 1): Firstly, if you don’t wear a hat, you will get sunburn ant the sunburn is painful. (Argument 2): Secondly, sunburn could lead to skin cancer. Sunburn can lead to health problems later in life. Many older people suffer from skin cancer which can kill them. (Reinforcement of position statement): In my opinion all school students should wear hats.
8.	Spoof	One day, two villagers went to Jakarta. They went to the biggest mall and saw shiny silver walls that could open and move apart and back together. They were amazed when an old lady rolled in to the small room and the doors closed. A minute later, the doors opened and a young beautiful lady stepped out. The father said to his son “Go, get your mother now.” The ending of the story is funny because they thought that the doors can change an old lady into a young beautiful lady. Whereas the doors were actually elevator doors.

Explanation	How to Fly a Hot Air Balloon  A hot air balloon consists of a basket, four big gas tanks, a burner and the balloon or ‘envelope’ First, four nylon poles are put into sockets on top of the basket. The burner is then put on top of the poles. Next, the cables are connected to the burner frame. The cables also go under the basket in order to hold everything together. After this, the hoses from the full gas tanks must be connected to the burner so that pilot can test it. Next, the mouth of the balloon is held open by two people while it is filled with cold air from the fan until it is quite fat and tight. Now for the difficult bit. The pilot lies on the ground, half in the basket, turns on the gas burner, and points the flame into the ‘mouth’ of the balloon. This is so that the balloon slowly stands up. When the it is ready to go, a bit more air is heated up the in the balloon. This results in the air in the balloon to be hot enough to get the balloon to rise off the ground
10.	Discussion	Euthanasia  Euthanasia is the act of intentionally causing the painless death of a sick person. In terms of a physician’s actions, it can be passive in that a physician plays no direct role in the death of the person or it can be active in that the physician does something directly to cause the death. Now the question: Do you think it is right for a physician to refuse to participate in active euthanasia? It is NEVER right for a physician or any one else to deliberately hasten a person’s death. This includes all forms of euthanasia-active and passive. To deliberately withhold food/fluids is to subject the person to a painful death-it is NOT a humane death. We are not in a position to determine the worth of a life. Every person has a soul-it is up to God to determine when he will take that soul from the shell that is the human body. We all have a duty to support life with ordinary means-food/fluids but we are not required to use extrordinary means-aggressive life support,dialysis,etc indefinitely. O.K. now, euthanasia (I think) is a type of suicide, whether or not you are sick. Physicians absolutley have the choice of NOT participating, in fact it should not be legal!!! Now if you put someone to death who was sick, or heck they dont even have to be sick, but you would look at your self everyday and be reminded of it. i bet you would feel like a murderer. If people want to die they can commit suicide in their own homes, makin someone else do it is not going to make it any better morally. Euthanasia is a sad, sad deal, please try to stop it. I believe if the person wants to die to end their life they should have the right to choose.I do not believe that the person should beable to have themselves killed if they’re not really suffering. Yes the person does have the right to kill him or herself. BUt the authourity stands in the way of that. If this is such a free country why can’t anyone participate in EUTHANASIA? If we have the right (at least in the U.S) to do whatever we want to with our lives, whether it be rich and famous or an alcoholic crack head, why is it that we can not decide when our life should end? It is ours, if we can kill the life that grows inside us, we should be allowed to also destroy the life that harbors others. Especially if that person is in pain and requests that some end their suffering. I don’t think you can allow one law with out the either. 11.	Review	Get Married  Illustrating the current situation happening in Indonesia, Get Married presents the figures of  unemployment. A few big-name celebrities show up in cameo roles. The movie tells about a true friendship of four youngsters Mae (Nirina Zubir), Guntoro (Desta ‘Club Eighties’), Eman (Aming), dan Beni (Ringgo Agus Rahman) who judge themselves as the most frustrated people in Indonesia. Soon, they turn out to be street kids and spend most of their times at street, bullying people who pass by. . Suddenly, it comes to a moment when Mae is persuaded to grant her parents’ wish to have a grandchild. Mae’s parents, (Meriam Bellina dan Jaja Mihardja) firmly state that Mae must get married in a little while. Soon, they are busy finding candidates who would marry their only  daughter. However, along the process of finding the right one for Mae, the three male friends of  Mae turn out to be brutal evaluators for the candidates. In the mean time, Mae falls badly in love  with Rendy (Richard Kevin), a rich, handsome and kind-hearted man. Unfortunately Rendy, Mae, Guntoro, Eman, Beni are brought into a misunderstanding, and soon fights break out between the two groups of Mae and Rendy. Written based on some of youngsters’ real-life brotherhood experiences—this story will stir you to your emotional core while bringing out your sense of brotherhood. There are a lot of little things and big things that make this movie worth watching. The story is good, the banter is great, the relationships between the characters are great, and it’s a fun time at the movies. When it got dark, they decided to go home and left the snow girl alone. The following morning, someone knocked the door. \”Any body home?\”, she said. The old woman inside opened the door and asked, \”Who are you?\” The girl said \”I\’m Snow Maiden, your daughter\”. The old woman was surprised and happy. \”Oh really? Thanks God! Come in, please!\” Since that meeting, they lived happily. Snow Maiden was beautiful, kind, diligent and helpful. Her parents and all of her friends loved her very much One day, Snow Maiden played with her friends. They played fire. At first, Snow Maiden just looked at their play. Suddenly, her friends asked her to jump on the fire. Of course she refused it because one thing that made her afraid was the fire. It\’s because Snow Maiden was made of snow, so she should avoid the fire. But her friends kept on forcing her to jump on. Finally, she could not do anything then she did it. She jumped on the fire and she melted. Her friends was so sorry about this, they cried and cried hoping Snow Maiden could live again, but it was useless. Snow Maiden would not be back anymore. Her mother tried to entertain Snow Maiden\’s friends and asked them to make a new Snow Maiden. They went to a snow mountain and started making it. They expected to have the new Snow Maiden. Days passed but their dreams never came true.  Malin Kundang Once upon time, there was a boy named Malin Kundang. He lived with his mother in a very poor condition. They looked fire wood in the forest nearly to make a living. Malin Kundang was so unsatisfied with their bad luck. That’s why he decided to go to another city to look for a better life. Not long afterwards, Malin asked his mother’s permission to go to a big city. He promised to come back soon with much money. His mother permitted him and always prayed for him. In his journey, Malin Kundang joined a merchant in a big ship. Actually, Malin was a diligent boy. He worked hard to get much money and everything changed. He became a rich merchant. His business partner asked him to marry  his daughter. Malin agreed. Then Malin and his business partner’s daughter got married. They had honeymoon and traveled all over the world. Many years later, Malin’s ship anchored in his village. Many villagers welcome his arrival and admired his glorious ship. Furthermore, they wanted to see his success. Malin’s mother heard that her son had come back. She was very glad and eager to see him. With a happy smile in her lips, she went to the seashore to meet her son. Do you know what happened when she met Malin? He pretended that he didn’t know her. Of course she was very very sad and disappointed. In her desperation she cried to God to punish Malin. She cursed Malin Kundang and his ship to be a stone. Since then, people can see the big stone in the beach.

Lalu bagaimana dengan Papa?

Mungkin karena Mama lebih sering menelepon untuk menanyakan keadaanmu setiap hari,

tapi tahukah kamu, jika ternyata Papa-lah yang mengingatkan Mama untuk menelponmu?

Mungkin dulu sewaktu kamu kecil, Mama-lah yang lebih sering mengajakmu bercerita atau berdongeng,
tapi tahukah kamu, bahwa sepulang Papa bekerja dan dengan wajah lelah Papa selalu menanyakan pada Mama tentang kabarmu dan apa yang kau lakukan seharian?

Pada saat dirimu masih seorang anak kecil……
Papa biasanya mengajari buah hati kecilnya naik sepeda.
Dan setelah Papa mengganggapmu bisa, Papa akan melepaskan roda bantu di sepedamu…
Kemudian Mama bilang : “Jangan dulu Papa, jangan dilepas dulu roda bantunya” ,
Mama takut anak yang di sayanginya terjatuh lalu terluka….

Tapi sadarkah kamu?
Bahwa Papa dengan yakin akan membiarkanmu, menatapmu, dan menjagamu mengayuh sepeda dengan seksama karena dia tahu sikecilnya PASTI BISA.

Pada saat kamu menangis merengek meminta boneka atau mainan yang baru, Mama menatapmu iba.

Tetapi Papa akan mengatakan dengan tegas : “Boleh, kita beli nanti, tapi tidak sekarang”

Tahukah kamu, Papa melakukan itu karena Papa tidak ingin kamu menjadi anak yang manja dengan semua tuntutan yang selalu dapat dipenuhi?

Saat kamu sakit pilek, Papa yang terlalu khawatir sampai kadang sedikit membentak dengan berkata :
“Sudah di bilang! kamu jangan minum air dingin!”.
Berbeda dengan Mama yang memperhatikan dan menasihatimu dengan lembut.
Ketahuilah, saat itu Papa benar-benar mengkhawatirkan keadaanmu.

Ketika kamu sudah beranjak remaja….
Kamu mulai menuntut pada Papa untuk dapat izin keluar malam, dan Papa bersikap tegas dan mengatakan: “Tidak boleh!”.

Tahukah kamu, bahwa Papa melakukan itu untuk menjagamu?

Karena bagi Papa, kamu adalah sesuatu yang sangat - sangat luar biasa berharga..

Setelah itu kamu marah pada Papa, dan masuk ke kamar sambil membanting pintu…

Disaat kamu butuh uang untuk membiayai uang semester dan kehidupanmu, orang pertama yang mengerutkan kening adalah Papa.

Papa pasti berusaha keras mencari jalan agar anaknya bisa merasa sama dengan teman-temannya yang lain.

Ketika permintaanmu bukan lagi sekedar meminta boneka dan mainan baru, dan Papa tahu ia tidak bisa memberikan yang kamu inginkan…

Kata-kata yang keluar dari mulut Papa adalah : “Tidak…. Tidak bisa!”

Padahal dalam batin Papa, Ia sangat ingin mengatakan “Iya sayang, nanti Papa belikan untukmu”.
Tahukah kamu bahwa pada saat itu Papa merasa gagal membuat anaknya tersenyum?

Saatnya kamu diwisuda sebagai seorang sarjana.
Papa adalah orang pertama yang berdiri dan memberi tepuk tangan untukmu.
Papa akan tersenyum dengan bangga dan puas melihat “ sikecilnya yang tidak manja berhasil tumbuh dewasa, dan telah menjadi seseorang”

Sampai saat seorang belahan jiwamu datang ke rumah dan meminta izin pada Papa untuk mengambilmu darinya.
Papa akan sangat berhati-hati memberikan izin..
Karena Papa tahu…..

Bahwa lelaki/wanita itulah yang akan menggantikan posisin dan perhatiannya nanti.

Saat Papa melihatmu duduk di Panggung Pelaminan bersama seseorang yang mengasihimu, Papa pun tersenyum bahagia….

Papa menangis karena papa sangat berbahagia, kemudian Papa berdoa….

Dalam lirih doanya kepada Tuhan, Papa berkata: “Ya Allah tugasku telah selesai dengan baik….

Bahagiakanlah ia bersama pasangannya…”

Dengan rambut yang telah dan semakin memutih….
Dan badan serta lengan yang tak lagi kuat untuk menjagamu dari bahaya….

Papa telah menyelesaikan tugasnya….
Papa, Ayah, Bapak, atau Abah kita…
Adalah sosok yang harus selalu terlihat kuat…
Bahkan ketika dia tidak kuat untuk tidak menangis…

Dia harus terlihat tegas bahkan saat dia ingin memanjakanmu. .
Dan dia adalah yang orang pertama yang selalu yakin bahwa “KAMU BISA” dalam segala hal…

Untuk menjadi seorang EUNTERPRENER sejati tidaklah di perlukan ip tinggi, ijazah, apalagi modal uang.
Saat yang tepat itu justru saat kita tidak mempunyai apa-apa.
Bermodalkan otak kanan yang kreatif dan inovatif pun sudah cukup.

Orang yang Pintar itu jadinya ya Dosen atau Ilmuwan, orang biasa-biasa ya jadinya Manajer, dan orang yang bodoh di pendidikan jadi Pengusaha.
Mereka akan menjadi lebih berani dan kreatif ketika di vonis masyarakat bahwa mereka tidak mempunyai masa depan.

Fakta,
1. Orang bodoh sulit dapat kerja , akhirnya dia bisnis .
Agar bisnisnya berhasil, tentu dia harus rekrut orang Pintar. Walhasil Bosnya orang pintar adalah orang bodoh.

2. Orang bodoh sering melakukan kesalahan , maka dia rekrut orang pintar yang tidak pernah salah untuk memperbaiki yang salah.
Walhasil orang bodoh memerintahkan orang pintar untuk keperluan orang bodoh.

3. Orang pintar belajar untuk mendapatkan ijazah untuk selanjutnya mendapatkan kerja.
Orang bodoh berpikir secepatnya mendapatkan uang untuk membayari proposal yang diajukan orang pintar.

4. Orang bodoh tidak bisa membuat teks pidato , maka disuruh orang pintar untuk membuatnya.

5. Orang Bodoh kayaknya susah untuk lulus sekolah hukum (SH) . oleh karena itu orang bodoh memerintahkan orang pintar untuk membuat undang-undangnya orang bodoh.

6. Orang bodoh biasanya jago cuap-cuap jual omongan , sementara itu orang pintar percaya.
Tapi selanjutnya orang pintar menyesal karena telah mempercayai orang bodoh. Tapi toh saat itu orang bodoh sudah ada di atas.

7. Orang bodoh berpikir pendek untuk memutuskan sesuatu di dipikirkan panjang- panjang oleh orang pintar,
walhasil orang orang pintar menjadi staffnya orang bodoh.

8. Saat bisnis orang bodoh mengalami kelesuan, dia PHK orang-orang pintar yang berkerja.
Tapi orang-orang pintar DEMO, Walhasil orang-orang pintar “meratap-ratap” kepada orang bodoh agar tetap di berikan pekerjaan.

9. Tapi saat bisnis orang bodoh maju , orang pinter akan menghabiskan waktu untuk bekerja keras dengan hati senang, sementara orang bodoh menghabiskan waktu untuk bersenang- senang dengan keluarganya .

10. Mata orang bodoh selalu mencari apa yang bisa di jadikan duit . Mata orang pintar selalu mencari kolom lowongan perkerjaan.

11. Bill gate (Microsoft), Dell, Hendri (Ford), Thomas Alfa Edison, Liem Siu Liong (BCA group) adalah orang-orang Bodoh (tidak pernah dapat S1) yang kaya . Ribuan orang-orang pintar bekerja untuk mereka.
Dan puluhan ribu jiwa keluarga orang pintar bergantung pada orang bodoh.

KESIMPULAN:
1. Jangan lama-lama jadi orang pinter, lama- lama tidak sadar bahwa dirinya telah dibodohi oleh orang bodoh.
2. Jadilah Orang bodoh yang pinter dari pada jadi orang pinter yang bodoh.
3. Kata kunci nya adalah “resiko” dan “berusaha” , karena orang bodoh perpikir pendek maka dia bilang resikonya kecil, selanjutnya dia berusaha agar resiko betul-betul kecil.
Orang pinter perpikir panjang maka dia bilang resikonya besar untuk selanjutnya dia tidak akan berusaha mengambil resiko tersebut.
Dan mengabdi pada orang bodoh.

Kasih Sayang Seorang Ibu

Saat kau berumur 15 tahun, dia pulang kerja ingin memelukmu. Sebagai balasannya, kau kunci pintu kamarmu.

Saat kau berumur 16 tahun, dia ajari kau mengemudi mobilnya. Sebagai balasannya, kau pakai mobilnya setiap ada kesempatan tanpa peduli kepentingannya.

Saat kau berumur 17 tahun, dia sedang menunggu telepon yang penting. Sebagai balasannya, kau pakai telepon nonstop semalaman.

Loch Ness Monster: Real or Hoax?
The existence of the Loch Ness monster has been debated since centuries ago.



In my opinion, there is a great chance that the Loch Ness monster, often nicknamed Nessie does exist in Loch Ness, Scotland. Many attempts to prove it, such as the famous expedition led by Dr. Robert Rines in the year 1972. He and his fellow scientists found recorded evidence using a sonar that something big indeed lives in the great loch. Many sightings by professionals that are unlikely to lie say that Nessie has the form of an aquatic animal much like the extinct plesiosaurus.


Photographs of the monster has also been taken by people trying to find evidence, and many of this photographs has been proved real and not a hoax. But unfortunately, not all of these evidence are authentic. Photographs, videos, even Nessie footprints has been faked. And until now, no one, not even scientists has come up with a carcass or live specimen of this creature. Untill then, we may never be sure that a living creture the so called Loch Ness monster is really living in the loch. I think we should keep a look out for this creature, we might find Nessie as a living dinosaur who survived extinction!

Tips dan Trik STAN 2012

Dalam menghadapi berbagai macam Ujian tentunya diperlukan trik-trik untuk mengerjakan soal-soalnya. Untuk menjawab soal Ujian STAN tidaklah sulit-sulit amat seperti yang dibayangkan. Mereka yang merasa kesulitan karena tidak terbiasa saja atau bahkan ada siswa yang baru tau ternyata soal USM STAN berbeda dengan soal Ujian Nasional atau Seleksi Nasional Masuk Perguruan Tinggi Negeri yang makin mahal saja. Terbiasa atau tidak memang tergantung masing-masing siswa. Untuk melatihnya kita bisa bergabung dengan Bimbingan Belajar USM STAN.

Sejak penerimaan STAN tahun 2009 kemaren telah terjadi perubahan yang cukup signifikan khususnya tentang soal USM STAN. Tahun lalu, soal USM STAN yang diperkirakan sama dengan tahun-tahun sebelumnya ternyata perkiraan itu salah. Soal USM hanya terdiridari 2 mata ujian saja, yakni Bahasa Inggris dan Tes Kemampuan Akademis. Tahun ini oun kemungkinan soal nya tidak jauh berbeda dengan tahun lalu. Jadi Persiapkan dari sekarang kalo kalian pengen masuk STAN!!!

How Earthquakes Happen

   Earthquake is one of the most destroying natural disasters. Unluckily it often happens in several regions. Recently a horrible earthquake has shaken West Sumatra. It has brought great damages. Why did it occur? Do you know how an earthquake happens?

   Earthquakes are usually caused when rock underground suddenly breaks along a fault. This sudden release of energy causes the seismic waves. It make the ground shake. When two blocks of rock or two plates are rubbing against each other, they stick a little. They don't just slide smoothly. The rocks are still pushing against each other, but not moving. After a while, the rocks break because of all the pressure that's built up. When the rocks break, the earthquake occurs.

   During the earthquake and afterward, the plates or blocks of rock start moving, and they continue to move until they get stuck again. The spot underground where the rock breaks is called the focus of the earthquake. The place right above the focus is called the epicenter of the earthquake.

      A man from the country side went to a city. It was his first time visiting the city, so the city's view with all the flashy technology shocked him very much.
While roaming the city's shopping centre, he found a red building that was soo big!
